2017 GDFL GRAND FINAL LIVE ON C31

GDFL president Neville Whitley OAM has confirmed that this year’s senior grand final will be broadcasted live on Channel 31 to homes around Geelong and Melbourne.

The network last broadcasted the 2010 season decider between Bell Post Hill and Werribee live to air before changing to its digital Channel 44 frequency in March, 2012.

“We were offered (by Channel 31) a time-slot for our television program for the second half of the season but we knocked that back given it was so late in the year,” Whitley said.

“Then they asked us if we were interested in a live broadcast of the grand final so we did some work on it and it’s within our budget.”

He added, “We’ll be able to give our major sponsors some exposure throughout the telecast and there’s also exposure for our league and the clubs that are participating on the day.”

“The game will also be live streamed on our Facebook page.”

When asked for his early premiership prediction, he responded with his same annual line.

“All I hope for is a close game, if I tip one side and they don’t prevail then I won’t hear the end of it from the eventual winners,” Whitley said.

“A fine exhibition of footy is good enough for me.”
