Kennedy Hunt to dedicate today’s game to his family

GDFL vice captain Jak Kennedy Hunt will pay tribute to his mother Gail and his partner, Alex Kymantas, when he runs out for the Raiders this afternoon.

As the reigning Whitley medallist takes on the Heathcote DFNL the duo will be selling “Fight MND” beanies for $20 each in support of the charity fighting motor neuron disease.

Kennedy Hunt’s father, John, died from the cruel disease on April 26, 2016.

“It’s vital fundraising because there’s no cure or medication, MND is a genuine death sentence,” Kennedy Hunt explained.

“It doesn’t take much time or effort to get behind a charity like this, so many people are putting in the effort to raise awareness and it’s not hard to find $20 for the cause.”

“They need all the fundraising that they can get to find a treatment to prolong it.”

Last year when Kennedy Hunt last played at the North Geelong ground he finished with 9.1 goals and 20 disposals, inspiring a 78-point win on the GDFL’s first FightMND Round.

On that occasion, he dedicated his performance to his late father.

“I’ve been blessed to be at Inverleigh, they’re a terrific club who have helped provide awareness for this charity,” he said.

“In fact they sold over 350 and we’re doing more this year,” he said.

When asked how many goals the Inverleigh forward would kick this afternoon Gail predicted three while Alex tipped a more generous tally of eight.
