08 Jun KROCK – TIGERS CONFIDENT ON MACLEOD
THOMSON coach Reece Holwell is confident captain Jackson Macleod will recover from a calf complaint in time for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with Bannockburn.
The star forward was a late withdrawal from the GDFL’s interleague win over Central Highlands after suffering the injury at training last Wednesday.
“He seems like he’s on the right track to get back for this week,” Holwell said.
“He didn’t want to miss out last week, but, looking at the big picture, he didn’t want to risk spending two or three weeks on the sidelines.”
Holwell says Macleod, who kicked 12 goals in win over Winchelsea before the break, will be given until later in the week to prove his fitness.
“We’ll see how he goes tonight (Tuesday). It will probably be a light night,” Holwell said.
“He’ll probably see a physio again later in the week and we’ll leave up to Friday afternoon or Saturday morning whether he plays or not.
“Jackson knows his body really well and he’ll be doing everything to get himself up, that’s for sure.”
