The Eagles are flying

Anakie had big expectations prior their round one clash with East Geelong, but it was the Eagles who came away with most to spruik about. Despite no big name recruits, the Eagles have injected plenty of blue collar, hard running players committed to coach Jeremy Power’s message. North Geelong recovered from their disappointing 2018 with a hard fought away win at Werribee. The Centrals were keen to open their 50th year of existence with a win, but found the Magpies an unrelenting opponent. The young Centurion outfit have to back up next week against Thomson, so no immediate respite is available. A return home for the Magpies against Belmont next week provides an opportunity the lay a strong foundation for the season.
Bannockburn also lived up to their pre-match hype and left another hopeful challenger in Belmont Lions to reassess their season.
