Fundraiser for Joel Bennett

Fundraiser for Joel Bennett

A GoFundMe page has been established for Corio co-coach Joel Bennett after the GDFNL star suffered a spinal injury against Inverleigh on Saturday.

“We have been sitting around wondering what we could run for the family,” Corio president Greg Ince explained on Monday evening.

“We are running a GoFundMe page and we are calling on any clubs and local businesses that may want to donate to it.”

The Devils, who sit 11th with a 1-1-4 record, are scheduled to play Thomson (away) before playing host to Geelong West on Saturday, May 25.

More importantly, the club has set an initial target of $10,000 on the page. (Click here for GoFundMe page)

OFFICIAL STATEMENT:

We have created this account and fundraiser to support Joel, Tiffany, Flynn and Zahli Bennett.

On Saturday the 11th of May, Joel sustained a major spinal injury resulting from a marking contest during round 6 GDFNL 2024 season.

Recently Joel has been transferred to the Alfred Hospital to receive further tests and scans with medical specialist in the spinal ward. Some results are in and the current outcome is one broken vertebrae and two fractured vertebrae’s (C7, T1, T2).

The club are uncertain of how long Joel and Tiffany will be out of work for and having two young children we thought we would set up this page to make life a little bit easier to help with upcoming expenses and to try ease the financial burden for the upcoming weeks ahead.

Thank you all for the current support to the club and to the Bennett family!
