14 Jun Lions select 16-year-old debutant against Werribee
Belmont Lions secretary Brian Coughlan has confirmed teenager Brock Mahoney will make his senior debut for the Lions this weekend against Werribee.
The 16-year-old, who has won two AFL Barwon league best and fairests for the club, will be a handy inclusion as the ninth placed Lions aim for their first away win of the season.
“This is a great moment in the history of the Belmont Lions sports club because he’s played 155 junior games since joining the club in 2010,” Coughlan said.
“It’s been great to announce this news tonight not only for Brock but also for his family who have been a magnificent part of the club as well.”
“As a club we’d like to wish Brock all the best and can confirm he’ll wear the number-21 Belmont Lions guernsey for the 156th time.”
The Lions will then return play home against top five sides Thomson and Bell Post Hill.
