The countdown is on to a landmark moment for the Geelong & District Football Netball League with the inaugural 11 & Under netball season set to begin in 2026.

GDFNL executive and member clubs have commended netball manager Lee Doherty and the league’s working parties for achieving the milestone, which expands a junior pathway that has been in place since netball was introduced in 2002.

Until now, the league has operated three junior divisions.

Inverleigh has been the dominant force at 17&U competition, claiming eight premierships, including a five-peat from 2012 to 2016.

Since the competition’s return from the COVID-affected seasons of 2020 and 2021, East Geelong has secured the past four 17 & Under titles.

In the 15&U competition, Inverleigh and East Geelong sit equal on six premierships apiece while Bannockburn leads the 13 & Under grade with six flags.

The 2026 GDFNL season will commence on Saturday, April 11.

GDFNL Junior Netball Premierships: Inverleigh (17), East Geelong (14), Bannockburn (11), Bell Post Hill (9), North Geelong (8), Werribee Centrals (3), Thomson (3), Winchelsea (2), Corio (1), Anakie (1).
