Winchelsea gun Fin Parish will get a chance to put his undoubted talent on a show at a higher level after being invited to pre-season training with VFL club Werribee.

The 24-year-old has earned an opportunity despite a broken thumb, followed by an overseas holiday, limiting him to just four senior matches for the Blues in 2025.

“We pushed Fin early on, saying, ‘Well, are you interested? And would you be keen on giving it a crack?,” Winchelsea coach Ben Moloney said.

“He’s someone who likes to test himself, and he’s done that, and it’s paid off, where he continued to train, and hopefully he gets on the list.

“I said, ‘You just turn up and put your head down, bum up and do the work and they’ll get to see what you’re capable of’, and I think he’ll hopefully work in his favour.”

A Winchelsea junior and one of three younger brothers of Essendon star Darcy, Parish also spent time with Grovedale while also coming through the Geelong Falcons program.

He returned to the Blues in 2023.

The Parish name is no stranger to Chirnside Park, with brother Cassidy making two appearances for the Bees in 2018.

Meanwhile, former St Mary’s junior Charlie Lazzaro and Anakie-aligned Ajang Koul mun’s moves to Werribee from Port Melbourne have been confirmed.

Lazzaro, who played 39 AFL games for North Melbourne, spent this year with the Borough alongside Kuol mun.

And former Torquay junior Noah Gadsby is on the move after 72 games with Williamstown to Queensland-based VFL team Southport.
