GDFNL History Project: Just Three Presidential Photos Remain Missing
The Geelong & District Football Netball League (GDFNL) is one step closer to completing its historical collection of former presidents with just three photographs remaining missing.
Following months of research and assistance from local historians, sporting clubs and community members, the league has recently located a photograph of Albert H. Langdon (1927–1933) through the Bareena Bowls Club.
He is pictured here in 1940 after winning the Victorian Country Pink Championship with H. Bannam and W. Leech.

Another breakthrough has confirmed the full name of former president Duncan Boss McKenzie (1926–1927), who later relocated to Stawell.
Then at 10pm tonight, we located Cr Alfred Sayers thanks to hard research on Trove!
The league is now seeking photographs of just three former presidents:
-
Bert Mason (1936–1938) – He may have been a relative of Alexander Mason (first Geelong Football Club secretary 1859)?
-
Les "Guv" Smith (1942–1955) – A photograph is believed to have appeared in the Geelong Advertiser between March and September 1959.
-
Bert Herni (1979) – Had connections with the Lara Football Club during the 1970s, club president 1978.
The GDFNL sincerely thanks the individuals, clubs and historical organisations who have assisted with the project to date.

With just four photographs remaining, the league is hopeful the local community can help complete this important collection of Geelong football history.
Anyone with photographs, newspaper clippings or information about these former presidents is encouraged to contact
