Round 12 A Grade Previews
Round 12 of the 2026 GDFNL netball season is bound to be an interesting one, as the teams will revisit their first opponents of the year from Round 1.
A rivalry to look out for this round is between Inverleigh and Thomson, two sides who are likely to play finals and have had a great season thus far.
“We’ve been building each week and are learning from each other, so we’re starting to really build together as a group,” Inverleigh A grade netball coach Lisa Milne said.

Thomson defeated Inverleigh by just one goal in Round 1, so Inverleigh will certainly be looking for redemption during their second meeting.
“I think we just need to take every quarter by quarter, have trust in each other, and play with the same intensity that we bring every week,” Inverleigh A grade player Zoe Saunders said.
Since Thomson suffered a loss to Bannockburn last round and Inverleigh drew with East Geelong, both sides will be eager to get back onto the winners list in Round 12.
Another team looking for redemption this round is Corio as they come up against East Geelong for the first time since they lost to them by one goal in Round 1.
Coincidentally both East Geelong and Corio played in games that resulted in a draw last round, so they will be equally as hungry for a win this weekend.
Whilst East Geelong has had a more successful season in terms of results, Corio won’t be shying away from this game as they hope to come out on top the second time around.
Winchelsea take on the Werribee Centrals who are currently enjoying a winning streak after defeating their last two opponents by a large margin.

The Centurions will be looking to capitalise from a rocky last two rounds for Winchelsea, who only defeated second-last-placed North Geelong by 17 goals and lost to Bannockburn by a goal.
Although this year’s season has proven to be unpredictable, Winchelsea will be looking to uphold their position at fourth on the ladder against a side they defeated in Round 1.
Still searching for their first win of the season, the Geelong West Giants will face Bell Post Hill who will be recovering from their draw against Corio last weekend.
Bell Post Hill are the only side to have drawn twice this season, so the Giants may be able to surprise themselves by receiving four points or maybe even two.

To close out Round 12, Belmont will line up against Anakie who they defeated by double their goals in Round 1 whilst North Geelong will take on Bannockburn who remain on top of the ladder with ten wins.
Round 12 is full of redemption games and chances for teams to impact the current standings in an unpredictable, competitive season of netball.
