Young talent shines at Bannockburn
With only two rounds to go in the GDFNL 2026 netball season, Bannockburn is currently the only club to have five leading goal-scorers heading into finals.
As Bannockburn prepares for its Round 17 clash against Inverleigh, these five young goalers will be looking to maintain their place at the top of the goal-scoring leaderboard.
Leading goal-scorer for the 13&U netball grade is Kailee Maaka. With 302 goals for the season so far, Maaka has scored 18 more goals than her competition.
“I’m proud of it and I’m also really happy,” Maaka said.
Bannockburn’s side sit comfortably in first place and have remained undefeated for the season with the help of Maaka and her dominate goal-scoring.
Amelia Dudesin is the top goal-scorer in the 15-and-under netball grade, helping her Bannockburn team reach second place on the ladder and secure a spot in finals.
Dudesin has scored 298 goals during this season, allowing her to lead the goal-scoring tally by an impressive 40 goals.
“We’ve been winning most of our games, so it feels pretty good,” Dudesin said.
In the 17-and-under netball competition, Indiana Tait from Bannockburn is also in the lead for total goals scored for the season, shooting a total of 273 goals.
“I’m always practicing my shooting from every angle under the ring, and if I don’t get it in, I just try again and again,” Tait said.
Tait has scored two more goals than any other goaler in her netball grade, allowing Bannockburn’s 17-and-under netball team to sit in third place after Round 16.
Emma White from Bannockburn’s 19-and-under netball team is the fourth player to be leading the tally for total goals scored in her grade for this season.
Despite her impressive 356 goals scored over the last 16 rounds, White only leads the goal-scoring competition by one goal with just two rounds of netball remaining before finals.
“It’s pretty tight so it could go either way, but I’m lucky to have such a great group of girls around me who feed it into me, so I can’t take much credit,” White said.
Bannockburn’s 19-and-under side is currently sitting in second place on the ladder but are tied in points with Werribee Centrals in first place and East Geelong.
“We have a few close games, so it will definitely be interesting,” she added.
Last but not least, Lila Morris is the top goal-scorer in the A Grade netball competition where Bannockburn have maintained their first place position leading up to finals.
“It feels pretty good to only be 15-years-old and leading it for A grade,” Morris said.
Morris has scored 560 goals this season and leads the tally by 45 goals which has been monumental for her team who have faced some challenging competition.
“Every defender is different, so I’ve just had to work out how they play and switch that to how I want to play my game.”
Each of the five teams that these talented goal-scorers play for sit no lower than third place on the ladder, setting Bannockburn up for an exciting finals campaign.
